My Okapis were born December 17, 2002 and life has never been the same. People tell you before you have children that everything changes once you have kids. But I didn’t understand they really meant everything! I thought they were just exaggerating. How could everything really change??? Oy, I knew so little.
The first year happened. I mean, it had to have happened, right? They are now more than three years old, so it is a safe bet that that first year did come and go. However, I remember so little, except that I didn’t sleep very much and my wife and I could go months without a conversation (unless you count talking in our sleep).
Somewhere around 1.5 years after they were born, I started to wake from the fog. They were sleeping longer which meant thankfully, so were we. Before I knew it, I was capable of new thoughts and even some ideas. Before I knew it, I found myself writing articles about my life as a father and the challenges of trying to be an involved father while working full-time outside of the house. Writing during the only disposable time of my day - my 40 minute train ride into the city.
I hope to use this blog to write even more about my family, about my experiences and challenges, but also more of the fun events, the humor of my life as well. I am trying to categorize all my entries into the major themes of my writings. I also expect to post some of my articles up here as well. If you would like to read some of my articles, check out JGS Connections.
As with everything I do, please feel free to let me know what you think and any reactions you may have to my writing.
Thank you,
JGS
